Contact lenses are worn directly on the cornea and correct refractive errors, like myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism (distorted vision) and presbyopia (need for reading glasses).

There are different types of contact lenses. The most commonly used are soft contact lenses.

They are soft and flexible and allow oxygen to reach the cornea.

Soft contacts can be, daily disposable lenses ( more expensive, but lower risk of infection), 2-weekly or monthly disposables, toric lenses that correct astigmatism and multifocal contact lenses, for people who need correction for reading and distance.
